Finding the Area of Rectilinear Shapes

To find the surface area of a rectilinear shape:

  • Split the shape into separate, non-overlapping rectangles.
  • Find the area of each rectangle past multiplying its base past its height.
  • Add together the areas of each rectangle together to observe the full area.

An L-shape is a mutual rectilinear shape that we see.
